Site Description DRUUMM is the oldest and largest Unitarian Universalist People of Color ministry and anti-racist community organization based in North America. We are an integrated auxiliary organization affiliated with the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) and operate as a 501(c)3. We are supported by DRUUMM Members (individuals who self-identify as People of Color) who affirm our Unitarian Universalist mission and values. People who self-identify as White are encouraged to belong and organize with UU Allies for Racial Equity, our close partner. DRUUMM, has a growing membership of UU People of Color from every district and region in the UUA. Led by a dedicated team of volunteers and several part-time staff members, DRUUMM continues to lead efforts to fulfill the Journey Towards Wholeness Resolution. Our work is focused on creating a diverse, ARAO (anti-racist, anti-oppressive), multicultural UUA. We strive to create and maintain spaces for BiPOC youth, young adults, and our families of color. Job Description The DRUUMM Ministerial Internship program is an innovative learning program, held within a unique culturally specific ministry. It is a one year ministerial interns program with the option of a second year (upon mutual agreement). Our program includes opportunities for theological reflection and creativity. It is geared towards, but not limited to, seminarians, students and religious professionals. Individuals who are candidates for UUA Ministerial Fellowship may apply to have this time serve as their MFC-required internship. If this is the case, please be explicit in your cover letter. Additionally, please describe (1) How your call to UU ministry aligns with the mission and ministries of DRUUMM and (2) Why you want to serve your internship with a distinctly BiPOC Unitarian Universalist community. Lastly, please indicate in your cover letter which portfolio(s) you are most interested in taking on and let us know why. Portfolios will be assigned annually in consultation with Supervising Ministers. Each Ministerial Intern will gain basic competency in worship, pastoral care, community organizing, and anti-racism/anti-oppression during their internship. All ministerial interns will attend the following: Weekly all-staff meeting Monthly supervision meeting Monthly Steering Committee meeting Monthly Chaplain Team meetings On going theological reflection. Ministerial interns are required to lead a minimum of four worship or other public services per year in coordination with a worship team. Ministerial interns will be invited to participate in DRUUMM programs and worship services (as schedules and interests permit. These may include our annual Public Worship, Elder Spiritual Odyssey, Memberl Caucus, DRUUMM Village at GA and Vigil programs that are or have worship services. Ministerial Interns will also be expected to teach various subjects and participate in a collaborative learning environment with our members and BIPOC friends. In 2025-2026, we anticipate having two new ministerial interns. The specific assignments to each individual will be based on skills, gifts, interests, and DRUUMM’s needs. 1. Pastoral Care Ministry Objective: Provide compassionate care and support to DRUUMM members, supporting their spiritual and emotional needs. Core Responsibilities: Serve as the first responder to pastoral care requests, offering direct support and referrals as needed. Monitor communication channels to identify and address pastoral care needs. Coordinate pastoral care and well-being for major DRUUMM events. Co-lead one Elder Spiritual Odyssey program, uplifting the spiritual journeys of elders within our community. 2. Community Ministry Objective: Foster faith formation, nurture community relationships, and support leadership development within DRUUMM. Core Responsibilities: Develop and coordinate activities for DRUUMM Members and BIPOC Friends, supporting their spiritual growth and community organizing. Provide guidance and resources to group leaders of cultural caucuses, antiracism training programs, and leadership development initiatives. Support the development and facilitation of digital community spaces that promote meaningful interactions. 3. Leadership Development Ministry Objective: Empower DRUUMM members and leaders through mentorship, training, and opportunities for growth. Core Responsibilities: Support the development and delivery of leadership training programs for youth and adults. Provide guidance and mentorship to emerging leaders within DRUUMM’s cultural caucuses and affinity groups. Identify and promote opportunities for members to serve in leadership roles within DRUUMM and the broader UU community. 4. Communications & Administration Objective: Ensure clear, compassionate, and effective communication across all DRUUMM platforms while maintaining efficient operations to support the organization’s programs and services. Core Responsibilities: Community Engagement and Communication: Draft and disseminate clear, compassionate messaging through email, social media, and digital platforms. Event and Program Coordination: Manage logistics for meetings, events, and pastoral care sessions, including scheduling, registration, and technical setup.

Additional Notes Skills and Qualifications: Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative, compassionate environment. Ability to maintain clear and consistent boundaries. Excellent time management skills. Technical proficiency with online communication. We use Asana, Slack, as well as various other programs for communication and community. A passion for Unitarian Universalism and a dedication to a liberatory UU practice that seeks to dismantle kyriarchy and build a world of radical equality. A commitment to the ethical obligations of a community of UU religious professionals (UUMA, LREDA, UUSCM, for examples).
