Site Description First Parish in Malden is a vibrant urban congregation of 103 adult members and about 50 children involved in our Religious Education program. Our congregation is particularly noted for the young average age of congregants (around 30) and the relatively high number of families and LGBTQ+ individuals. Our mission statement states: Worship is what we do when we gather together, take risks for justice, embrace difference, and give back. Our worship services as engaging and often multigenerational. Our religious education program has offered OWL, summer camp, and adult faith formation options during the past year. Our music program includes a small choir and worship band. Our most prominent social justice causes are current transgender advocacy and migrant justice in Massachusetts. There are many areas where we can grow: social justice, pastoral care, and membership, are among a few.  
Job Description First Parish in Malden has not had an intern before - we look forward to learning with you! The intern would be asked to participate in worship 3x/month as well as have opportunities to lead worship/preach frequently. In addition to that, the role would be focused on whatever what important for the interns development, as discussed with the internship supervisor. Opportunities in religious education, music ministry, social justice, administration, and more are all available.
