Site Description | We are the largest congregation in Arizona with an estimated membership of around 400 members and friends. We have Children’s Ministry and Music Programs that are widely recognized in UUA circles. Our Mission Statement is to be a Spiritual Community for our Time: Theologically Diverse, Radically Inclusive and Justice Centered. The congregation adopted the 8th principle in January of 2021 and works on dismantling racism and heteropatriarchy. We have had a notable focus working on neurodiversity. Indigenous rights and immigration are areas we would like to be more active in, given our location. This congregation has a strong history and pride of working for social justice and supporting the UUA. And obviously, Arizona and Maricopa county are a critical location politically. The congregation has a wide variety of programs and teams that are larger than the size of congregation we are. We had a vibrant online presence for two years and are figuring out who we are after that experience, but it has included better communications and tech support. We serve the entire Phoenix area but are located in a wealthy part of town on 9 acres next to beautiful Camelback Mountain.
Job Description | The intern is a full member of the ministry and staff team and would be exposed and would contribute to all areas of community and congregational life. They would be a regular part of worship and would lead service once a month, with one Sunday off a month. They would participate in our Children’s Ministries program and get involved with some of the teams of the congregation. They would participate in weekly staff meetings and monthly board meetings and monthly foundation (endowment) meetings. The learning agreement would focus on where the intern wishes to grow but also the demands of a vibrant, busy community.
Site Accessibility | We have accessible parking, sanctuary, and chancel
