Site Description The Unitarian Universalist Maine Collaborative Ministry Program (CMP) consists of three UU churches in Maine: Ellsworth, Castine, and Belfast. Together the three churches would constitute a congregation of over 300 members. The mission of the CMP is to nurture excellence in ministry and explore new approaches of engaged faith through collaboration. To that end, our Internship Program is meant to nurture and support future UU ministers in a multi-site setting. This is a parish-based internship setting.
Job Description The Collaborative Ministry Intern will work with three ministers (Rev. Margaret Beckman, rev. Ami Fiorilli and Rev. Sara Hayman) and three congregations to gain experience in all areas of church life. The primary site this year is the UU Congregation of Castine, Maine, however, each congregation offers the Intern learning and ministry experiences that are unique to that congregation. There will be opportunities for worship, preaching, pastoral care, teaching, administration, Lifespan Faith Development, social justice work and community-building. There is some flexibility to build on one's strengths and/or to cultivate new skills.
Site Accessibility Yes
Application Procedure Send letter of interest, a sermon, cv and three references to Rev. Margaret Beckman - minister@uucastine.org Candidates will receive a brief telephone conversation. Finalists will have a Zoom Interview with full selection panel of three ministers and one or two lay leaders.
Additional Notes This is a full-time Internship in three congregations. The start and finish dates are flexible depending on the Intern's needs and priorities. In coastal Maine, the busy months are July and August which means our "church year" is a different from the norm. An Intern could choose to start in July and finish in March or April.
