Site Description | The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Rockville (UUCR) is a mid-size congregation in the suburbs of Washington DC. We have a long history of hosting interns, and the congregation is dedicated to supporting the formation of future Unitarian Universalist ministers. In all that we do at UUCR, we are guided by our community values: Lifelong Spiritual Discovery; A Beloved Community; and A Just World. Members are drawn to our church because of the sense of community it provides, the intellectual stimulation it affords, and the opportunities it offers for spiritual growth and a celebration of UU values. We are committed to social justice activities, focusing on antiracism, immigrant rights, homeless issues and the environment. We place a high value on our excellent music program in our congregational life, and have a deep connection to nature and a profound sense of the interconnected web of life.
Job Description | This internship will be tailored to the learning needs of the intern. The mid-size church setting provides ample opportunities for the intern to gain exposure and experience in a number of programs, as well as administration, leadership, church systems, worship, community outreach, and justice work. The intern will be responsible for creating a plan that addresses self-identified learning goals. The intern is given wide latitude to fulfill learning goals and address growing edges. While the intern is expected to engage in weekly reflection sessions with the supervisor, the intern is expected to be self-motivated and take initiative in proactively taking responsibility for their learning and growth.
