Site Description	The Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Montclair has embraced multimodal ministry providing an enriching space for an intern to learn the contemporary praxis of parish ministry. Our congregation voted to adopt the Eight Principle and leaders through the institution, which has long been a champion of undoing racism, have claimed the work of de-centering cultural and systemic white supremacy. Our Social Justice Coordinating Team focuses congregational power around single issue campaigns in a strategic manner. Our staff Team engages collaboratively and creatively - working to dispel patriarchal hierarchies. Covenants hold our congregation, including a covenant among our ministers, minister emeritus, and seminarians, and a covenant among our Staff Team members. The two Senior Co-Ministers engage in denominational and interfaith leadership and justice. The Internship Team will be led by two seasoned leaders who have chosen to continue in the role because they feel called to Internship Team work. Amidst the areas of health and thriving, growing edges and spaces for an Intern to focus abound. Montclair is a thriving urban/suburban center twelve miles and a short train ride from New York City. Central to the town's identity is a commitment to inclusion. The Congregation is just off a main thoroughfare amidst restaurants, shops, businesses, and other faith communities. The campus includes an late 19th Century craftsman style building adjoined to an office wing that was carved out of what used to be a Carnegie Library. Office space is often shared but rooms for private use, at different times of the day, abound.
Job Description	The Intern will determine a focus in conversation with the Supervisor and in relation to the growing edges of the congregation. Half time internships will include an agreement to work a minimum of 20 hours a week and full time internships will include an agreement to work a minimum of 40 hours a week. The Intern will draft the Learning and Service Agreement, mutually agreeable to the Intern, the Supervisor, and the Internship Committee, during the first two months of the Internship to explain in detail the Intern’s specific learning goals and responsibilities. The Supervisor, Internship Committee, and the Intern will provide evaluations to whatever educational or credentialing bodies that may require them. The Internship Supervisor will provide bi-weekly meetings of one to one and a half hours. The Internship Committee, at its discretion, will meet monthly or bi-monthly with the intern for support, reflection, and evaluation.
