| Site Description | UUCMP was established in 1953; the congregation met in a variety of local venues until constructing the building in the current location in the gorgeous setting of Carmel in 1979. We have just completed a five year long range plan that commits us to growth in numbers (adults, youth, and children, budget and programs), growth in space (plans for a new sanctuary and remodeling of current space are in place) and growth in systems (organization, governance and staffing). This growth is perfect for ministers interested in learning about the pastoral to programmatic cultural / organizational shift. The demographic of the congregation is older but becoming younger. We have a deep commitment to social justice, lay involvement in worship, music, fellowship and growth. Social Justice has a broad focus that engages the entire congregation and emphasizes the sustainable programs and processes. We are addressing multicultural/anti-oppression curricula. Success in the Worship Associates program is encouraging other associates programs and general leadership development; the Caring Network makes everyone aware of congregational needs; needs of the homeless are met through participation in I-HELP, an interfaith homeless ministry. Being the only UU congregation within fifty miles allows UUCMP to be a major liberal presence with a small town feel. This congregation has had a long history of hosting ministerial interns. | |
| Job Description | Under the supervision of the minister, Rev. Greg Ward, the intern will participate in a variety of experiences tailored to the intern’s individual needs, including small group leadership, institutional management, programming and finance, pastoral care, counseling, worship arts, adult and children’s religious education, program development, and community and social action. | |
