| Site Description | Large, vibrant multi-staff urban congregation. Organized into the following Ministry Teams: Worship and Program, Social Justice, Lifespan Religious Growth and Learning, Generosity, Denominational Affairs, Community Life and Caring. We consider ourselves to be a teaching congregation. | Job Description | Contribute to all aspects of ministry, including worship, religious education for children, youth and adults, pastoral care, governance, administration, social justice. Also organize and start up a new project, to be determined after starting. The particular duties, and the new project, will be based on the needs of the congregation as well as the strengths and learning needs of the intern. Of special note: Lead Minister Arvid Straube will be on sabatical for half of this intern's year (Sept 15 - Dec 1 and Jan 14 - Apr 1.) This means that our intern will need to take on more responsibility than usual, and Associate Minister Kathleen Owens will be sharing supervision duties. | |

| Application Procedure | Email the following to the Intern Committee chair, Steve Howard (steve@san.rr.com): * Letter saying why you want to intern at First UU San Diego (How you would be good for us and we would be good for you) * Resume * Sample sermons * Descriptions of Rites of Passage you have led * Any other materials which will help the Committee get to know you We are interested in candidates with excellent knowledge and abilities in some areas, but also with the need of practice and training in some other areas. The congregation expects to exchange gifts with our intern. The Intern Committee consists of 7 lay members and both of our settled ministers. We will review application materials during November, and select 2 or 3 candidates to interview in San Diego during December. We will reimburse travel expenses for the interview.
